Attention Seekers. ADHD: what it is, and what to do if you’ve got it.
Despite this programme covering some serious subject matter, I had a great time meeting the contributors so I hope that positivity can be heard in the final cut. I’m aware that many people with ADHD are able to navigate their way through life without too many problems, but, in making the programme, I also became more and more conscious of the multitudes of issues that the condition brings to so many. Startling statistics emerged throughout the interview process, and, with some people still happy to broadcast the fact they don’t believe the condition exists (correctly guessing who is easy enough), I thought it was only right to focus in on the fact that ADHD is a serious and very real condition in the hope that it would resonate with people looking to find out more, either for themselves or for someone close to them.
Big thanks to the contributors who were:
Science writer and journalist, Caroline Williams; ADHD UK founder and CEO Henry Shelford; facilitator at ADHD Carmarthenshire Hayley Morris; neurodiversity support manager at Swansea Prison, Liz; and Dr Alex Connor, ADHD consultant and specialist in medical sciences.
